2024 Art Poster Contest
Register and Upload Artwork
By completing the form and clicking submit to upload your child’s artwork, you are agreeing to the Terms and Conditions of this contest including and specifically to the use of your child’s name, picture and artwork.
Art Poster Contest Parameters
The purpose of this contest is to bring greater awareness to the impact of loneliness in our communities.
Artwork submitted to the contest must show and answer the following two questions:
What does LONELINESS look like to you?
What could you do to connect with others who appear lonely?
Artwork competition eligibility and requirements:
7th – 12th graders who live in Durham, Johnston, Orange or Wake County
Artwork must be an original work prepared by the student and created by hand without Artificial Intelligence (AI) or digital generation.
Poster size ranges: 12-18 inches by 22-28 inches – vertical/tall or horizontal/wide
Artwork and registration should be uploaded here between Dec 3 and Dec 23, 2024.
If that is not possible, physical entries can be dropped off, and must be clearly marked with the following information:
Student Name
Grade Level
Parent/Guardian Name, Address, Email, Phone
Parent/Guardian must print and sign this consent form approving rights to recognize and promote the artist and their work. THIS is only for physically submitted entries.
Start date and deadlines to upload all entries and winners announced dates:
Entry start date Dec 3rd
Entry deadline Dec 23rd
Winners to be announced downtown Raleigh Dec 31st – New Years Eve (time and exact location TBD)
Winners’ works will be displayed publicly on social media sites, possible media outlets and top ten finalist originals at a time and location TBD
Artwork Rules
Students’ original art may consist of any media or mixed media to create a two-dimensional poster. Approved media includes– crayons, ink, pastel, pencil, charcoal, oil, acrylics, watercolor – note, do not spray pastel or charcoal as it may distort an image once uploaded.
Judging will be based on:
Originality
Creative techniques
Overall appearance
Composition’s ability to represent the loneliness issue and what could be done to connect others who appear lonely
Power to attract attention
Art physically submitted will be returned to the artist.

We are excited to share this amazing 2 minute video that has just been released out of Harvard University. It brings validation to what we have been doing through art, as well as, why we are choosing to give back to 7-12th graders who can benefit from learning new coping skills during these difficult times.
